Functional Behavior Assessment & Behavior Plans
We believe in identifying why challenging behavior is occurring and teaching our students the skills that they need to engage in more appropriate behavior when they are challenged. Other approaches to reducing problem behavior may include antecedent interventions (e.g., removing/reducing the triggers that might be evoking problematic behaviors) or behavior modification (e.g., providing rewards or punishment to stop the behavior without addressing the function); although these approaches may be used at The Grove School, they are always used in tandem with skill based treatment.
